Shortly after the winter solstice, 30 women gathered at Light House Holistic Wellbeing’s Clubhouse for an evening centred on movement, reflection and connection. Led by Anna Sellmeyer, the sold-out Meditation in Motion session created an opportunity to pause at the midpoint of the year and return to the body.
Anna is GoodBasics’ Partnerships Manager and the founder of Nada Experiences. With a background spanning dance, yoga, breathwork and meditation, she created Meditation in Motion as a practice through which people can encounter themselves without the pressure to perform or arrive feeling a certain way; as she shared with us,
“Meditation in Motion is a culmination of my love for music, my background in dance, teaching yoga, breathwork and meditation. I wanted to create a practice where people didn’t have to arrive in a certain way, but could meet themselves through sound, through movement and through stillness.”
The evening began on yoga mats with gentle stretching and breath awareness. From there, the session gradually built towards freer movement, held within Anna’s careful guidance. Rather than focusing on getting the movement “right”, participants were encouraged to listen more closely to their bodies and allow the experience to unfold at its own pace.
The theme for the evening was Come Back to Centre. Arriving shortly after the winter solstice, this was especially resonant; a moment to take stock, regain perspective and reconnect with what may have become obscured by the movement and demands of everyday life. As Anna reflected,
“The intention really landed very beautifully. I think people resonated with it and were very touched by it.”
The sense of connection underpinned the gathering continued once the movement had ended. No one rushed to leave, and instead, participants stayed to share soup, wine, non-alcoholic beverages, snacks and conversation.

The gathering was made possible alongside community partners who share an interest in more considered approaches to everyday wellbeing: Light House Holistic Wellbeing, which hosted the evening at its Clubhouse; Happy420 Africa; Babylonstoren; and of course, us at GoodBasics. We’re so proud to be featured in community spaces alongside such incredible brands.
Anna’s connection to GoodBasics began at home, before she joined our team. After trying numerous approaches to manage her son’s eczema, she switched her household cleaning products to GoodBasics in September last year. In describing her family’s experience, Anna shares that,
“since switching to GoodBasics, my son’s eczema completely went away. It’s incredible.”
That experience changed the way Anna thought about wellness, and ultimately led her to join GoodBasics. Meditation in Motion gave us the opportunity to bring that idea into a shared, physical space, and guests could explore all ten GoodBasics products, ask Anna questions and understand how each one fits into a healthier approach to the home. The response was energising — and we are always so excited to move beyond talking about holistic wellness as an abstract idea and engage directly with people who are actively reconsidering what they use, what they bring into their homes and what they expose themselves to every day.
As Anna puts it,
“Wellness is no longer confined to juicing or doing yoga. It’s expanded to how we clean our homes, what we choose to surround ourselves with, and what we expose our nervous systems to.”
This is exactly where Meditation in Motion and GoodBasics meet. The evening placed movement, nourishment, environment and community within the same conversation, as interconnected parts of how we live. For us, holistic wellbeing must extend beyond the hour we spend on a yoga mat and into the spaces to which we return afterwards; the surfaces we touch, the clothes we wear, the air we breathe and the homes that hold our everyday lives.
Meditation in Motion made that vision tangible. Alongside Anna, Light House Holistic Wellbeing, Happy420 Africa and Babylonstoren, we love being part of an evening that approached care as collectively expressed through movement, nourishment, thoughtfully chosen products and the conversations and connections that continued long after the session ended. Thank you to every woman who entered the space with openness and made the evening feel so alive. To many more!
